Infinity Internet's referral program has been improved. Recently, we made
some changes to our referral program and are happy to be able to offer
these rewards to our valued customers.
The past referral program has been broken down into two new plans:
1. Refer a Friend <http://www.iinet.com/refer_a_friend.php>
- Help get the word out. Tell a friend or family member about the superior
quality and speed of Infinity Internet services, with the best customer
support in the industry. Do them a favor, and let them know about Infinity
Internet!
2. Refer a Business <http://www.iinet.com/refer_a_business.php>
- Earn credit for each business that you refer to become an Infinity
Internet customer. Help businesses achieve their goals by telling them
about the superior quality and speed of Infinity Internet services, with
the best customer support in the industry!
Customer Support Site - Update!
Where is the Support Area?
The updated support area is still available from the landing page of
www.iinet.com. It is still one easy click and you can access it one of
three ways:
- Go to the top right corner of www.iinet.com and click on the orange
"go". This will take you to support.iinet.com <http://support.iinet.com>
- Or, click on the text link "Customer Support" at the bottom of the main
content of the www.iinet.com page
- Or, should you want to see both the support site and your own account
information, just enter your user name and password in the top right corner
text boxes at www.iinet.com
-This will take you to a secure site. It is the same URL as the support
site <http://support.iinet.com>, but over a secure connection
-User name: Your full e-mail address - (i.e. johnsmith at iinet.com,
johnsmith at pacifier.com, etc.)
-Password: Your current Infinity Internet password
How Do I Use the Updated Support Area?
The new support area was designed based on feedback that we received on the
last release of our support site. All the topics that were previously
available in a drop down menu form are now visible on the first page in a
tab format.
Here's how it works:
- Go to support.iinet.com <http://support.iinet.com>
- Click the type of question you have from the tabs. So, if you have a
dialup question, click the "Dialup" tab
- Next, click the type of question you have from the list presented for
"Dialup" . For example, if you chose the dialup tab, you might click on
"Unable to Login"
- The answer to your chosen question will be the next item to appear
Where is "My Account"?
The "My Account" area is the top left tab in the body of the page at
support.iinet.com <http://support.iinet.com> and there is a link in the
left hand navigation of the same page.
To access your account you must login. Please enter your:
- User name: Your full e-mail address - (i.e. johnsmith at iinet.com,
johnsmith at pacifier.com, etc.)
- Password: Your current Infinity Internet password
- Click on the "Login" graphic
"My Account" - Overview!
Account tools allow you to:
- View your current services
- See what add-ons are available
Billing tools allow you to:
- See your account balance
- Make a payment online
Email tools include options for:
- Setting up spam filters
- Creating automatic responses and forwards
Domain tools give you the ability to:
- Create email aliases
- Add webhosting features
New - Photo Gallery - Free!
Our new Photo Gallery feature can be added to any current unix web hosting
account. You need only have your own domain name to take advantage of this
new free feature.
Steps to Add Photo Gallery:
- Login to <https://support.iinet.com/addons.html>
- Place a check mark in the box for photo gallery
- Type in the password that you wish to use to administer the photo
gallery
- In your web browser, type in your domain followed by /gallery
- Next, login and start using the photo gallery by following the
instructions within the photo gallery
Anti-Spam Program!
Infinity Internet will be taking additional steps in the coming weeks to
combat spam.
It is well known that viruses are spread from infected outside computers.
Some recent viruses have been used by spammers to create a mail server.
Mail servers used in this manner are called open relay and work in
conjunction with an infected computer.
During the month of October, Infinity Internet will begin to restrict the
ability to send mail out through mail servers that are not Infinity
Internet servers. The net result will be that an infected outside computer
being used as a spam relay will not affect our mail servers. This is a
relatively new move, but not an unusual one for an ISP.
Increased amounts of spam on the Internet has forced us to constantly come
up with new ways to combat this problem. The application of this newer
technology will affect a few of our clients who use mail servers that are
not their own. These clients will need to set their smtp server to
smtp.iinet.com . This new measure to reduce spam will not affect outbound
mail.
We will continue to search out new technologies to ensure your Internet
experience is a pleasant one.
There are also the following available to aid in your Spam Defense:
- Behind the Scenes - Infinity Internet filters out 90% of the spam before
you ever see it.
- Infinity Internet's "My Account" - 'Email Tools' - 'Email Filtering' -
SpamAssassin 3.0.0 <https://support.iinet.com/>.
- Downloadable Tools - Mailwasher <http://www.mailwasher.net>!
- Extra Email Account - Have an account for online shopping etc. and a
personal account. If you use the first account for anything you submit
online, then a majority of your Spam should end up there. Doing that will
free up your personal account.
- Treat your email account as your own mailing address. Hand it out only
to those you know.
Spam Assassin 3.0.0!
SpamAssassin is an effective filtering tool that is available by default
to all of our customers. After logging in to My Account
<https://support.iinet.com/index.html?tab=my_account>, go to Email Tools
and select Email Filtering to view SpamAssassin. SpamAssassin resides on
Infinity Internet's mail server, so there is nothing to download.
SpamAssassin filters mail based on: Headers, text, Bayesian filtering
(scoring content-based filtering method), DNS blocklists, and collaborative
filtering databases.
SpamAssassin 3.0.0 uses filters that score the email being sent to you.
This method of scoring is done based on the headers, sender and content of
the sent email. This new SpamAssassin ranks the email sent from a
particular sender. It then labels the sender's email as spam or not
depending on the score they achieve. Over time, the filters 'learn' which
senders have just sent spam based on an improved or decreased score. The
new filtering method rewards senders who consistently send spam free email.
Anyone repeatedly sending you email that appears to be spam will receive a
higher score and a lower ranking. This new tool will effectively monitor
incoming mail and over time reduce your incidence of spam.
With SpamAssassin, a sender is identified by using both the address they
sent with and their IP address. Spam claiming to be from you with forged
headers will not get through.
