Popup Blocker - Enjoy the Holiday Season Popup Free!
At Infinity Internet, we are always searching for new ways to make our client's online experience more enjoyable. So, just in time for the busy holiday season, Infinity Internet is thrilled to offer a FREE popup blocker to our valued customers. The IINet Popup Blocker will be available on line December 1, 2003.
How To Install the Free Popup Blocker:
The download of the IINet Popup Blocker can be found at:
http://help.iinet.com/popup-blocker.php
We also have some FAQ's for you on the Popup Blocker. Our FAQ's on this new product can be found at:
http://help.iinet.com/faq.php click on the text link "IINet Popup Blocker" in the "Browsing the Web FAQ" section.
Mac and Netscape Users:
Our recent introduction of popup blocking software has been received very well. We realize that not everyone uses a windows PC and runs Internet Explorer, and so for our customers using Macs, or those using Netscape, we would suggest giving Mozilla ( http://www.mozilla.org) a try. It contains popup-blocking software, and is fast, reliable, and flexible.
Updated UserConsole - Easily Update Your Personal Information Online!
The UserConsole account manager has been updated with an easier to use menu. The UserConsole allows you to view/change your billing information, make a payment online, change your password, configure e-mail filtering and much, much more! You can access our newly remodeled UserConsole by going to http://console.iinet.com/, or by clicking the My Account button at the top of every www.iinet.com page!
Spam Filtering - Custom Rules!
We are pleased to announce that we have recently installed two new spam (junk mail) filters - Spam Assassin and Spam Filtering. These should not be confused with Bess, a product that we also offer should you wish to ensure your computer has Adult filtering for Web access.
The first filter is called Spam Assassin, scans the e-mail just before it is deposited in your e-mail account. It maintains a scoring system for various content in the messages that it is scanning. If the software records too many points or hits the message will be discarded and not delivered to your mailbox.
To configure Spam Assassin:
In order to add additional simple spam filtering to your account please follow these steps.
1. Go the web page http://console.iinet.com
2. Login into the console page by putting in your full email address and password then clicking login.
3. Click on the blue menu option labeled "Email Tools" then click on "Email filtering"
4. Scroll down the page until you see the heading "Spam Assassin". If spam assassin is set to disable marked in red please click the link next to it that says, "click here to enable". If it is marked enabled in green skip to step #5. If you only want your spam to be marked as spam and not deleted skip directly to step #9.
5. Scroll up until you see the "Spam Filtering" heading, listed under that there should be the link "Click Here to Edit Filtering Rules". Please click on this link.
6. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the link that says "Add a Rule from our rule book"
7. Scroll down and find the option that says "Name: SpamAssassin Deletion" then Click the white "add" button to it's right.
8. Click again on the blue menu option labeled "Email Tools" then click on "Email filtering"
9. Scroll to the bottom and click on the option labeled "Click here to set SpamAssassin Options"
10. This section allows you to set your Threshold level. Your Threshold level represents how strictly your email is filtered. The lower the number the more strict it is. The stricter it is the more likely it is that non-spam emails will be targeted. We recommend starting high and lowering it as you see fit.
11. Once your Threshold is set to the level you desire click the white "submit" at the bottom of the page to save your changes.
12. Finally find the white "logout" button located towards the top of the page and click on that. Your new mail filtering changes should take effect immediately.
Custom Rules!
If you wish to setup more complex personalized filtering please follow these steps. We highly recommend that you get a good idea of what you want the new filter to do before you follow these steps.
1. Go the web page http://console.iinet.com
2. Login into the console page by putting in your full email address and password then clicking login.
3. Click on the blue menu option labeled "Email Tools" then click on "Email filtering"
4. Scroll down the page until you see the heading "Spam Filtering". If spam assassin is set to disable marked in red please click the link next to it that says, "click here to enable". If it is marked enabled in green skip to step #5
5. Find and click the link that says, "Click here to Edit Filtering Rules" under the Spam Filtering heading.
6. Find and Click a link towards the top that says, "Insert a Custom Rule here"
7. You should see a number of fields you can fill in on this page under the heading "Create a Rule".
8. First specify a name for the rule; We suggest something that you can use to easily identify what the rule does. Type the name into the "Name" field.
9. Second we need a Description of the rule, putting in specifically what the rule is supposed will make it easier to view later. Type that information into the "Description" field.
10. Next we want to specify a "condition Field"; this is what section of the email the filtering looks at to determine if it should be filtered out or not. Select which option fits the needs for this filter from the "Condition Field" menu.
11. Following that we want to specify the "Condition Value". This is the specific word, phrase, or email address the filter looks for in the "Condition Field" you specified just above. Please select what you want to filter and type it in the "Condition Value" field.
12. Next we want to specify the action. This allows you to deliver the mail as normal, forward it to a different address, or just delete it entirely. Please selection an option that's appropriate to the filter your creating from the "Action" menu.
13. Finally if you selected to forward the email from the "Action" menu you will want to put the email address you want the filter to send the mail to in the "Forward To:" field.
14. Find and click the white "create" button at the bottom of the page.
15. Find and click the white "logout" button that's located towards the top of the page.

Internet Smarts
Shutdown
If you are having any difficulties connecting to us, we would suggest doing a full shutdown and restart of your system. This usually solves a lot of the issues that may be causing connection difficulties. On Windows systems, this can be done by going to the "Start" menu and selecting the shutdown option. Then, select shutdown from the list of available options and click the "OK" button. On a Macintosh, you will want to go to the "Special" menu at the top of your screen and then select the shutdown option. This simple step can help solve many of your Internet access issues.
Update Your Modem Driver
Another suggestion to prevent connectivity issues is to ensure your modem drivers are up-to-date. We cannot recommend enough that you ensure you have the most up-to-date drivers for your modem. You can usually find the latest modem drivers for your system by going to one of the following sites that provide links to many different modem manufacturers' sites.
http://www.drivershq.com/Main.asp
http://www.download.com
http://www.driverguide.com
Another place you check for information about your modem drivers is either with the modem manufacturer or, in some circumstances, your computer manufacturer. Even if your computer is brand new, newer drivers may be available for the modem. It's usually a good idea to check just to be sure.
If you have any questions regarding these suggestions, please feel free to give us a call at 1-800-689-4303. Our technical support team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
