WINES FOR YOUR VALENTINE
CHOCOLATES
This week we are offering free chocolates and truffles (while
supplies last) instead of a cheese and/or Pâté Plate. Valentine’s
Day is a time of love, and we love all our customers!
For wines, as usual, we play on pink and love, and offer wines that
will be great for Valentine’s Day – and any other day!
1. We start with a pink bubbly, KRITER BRUT ROSÉ. KRITER is based in
Burgundy, but this pretty sparkler is made in the south of France.
The wine is 100% PINOT NOIR from vineyards in the LANGUEDOC-
ROUSSILLON region. Soft and fruity on the palate with red currant
and raspberry flavors, the wine finishes with good acidity making it
a very refreshing drink - $13.00
2. SAINT AMOUR is one of the ten BEAUJOLAIS CRUS, and what better
name for Valentine’s Day! The DOMAINE des CHAMPS-GRILLES 2005 is a
great example of the Cru. It has that lovely, seductive, fruit, but
also has the structure to age a few years. The heart on the bottle
almost gives the wine a “cheap” look – ignore it, this wine is very
good - $20.00 (we have a couple of bottles of 2003 left at $17.50)
3. DOLCETTO means “little sweet one”, so it is another obvious wine
for Valentine’s Day. However, this grape from PIEMONTE, has not been
an easy sell. This wine from ELIO ALTARE should change people’s
minds. The 2006 offers lots of forward fruit, some complexity, but
without some of the bitterness on the finish which is typical of many
Dolcettos. This should be a wine that turns people on to Dolcetto -
$21.75
4. Our final wine is from the CÔTES-du-RHÔNE VILLAGES. From the
village of CHUSCLAN comes the 2004 MELODIE d’AMOUR. Made at CHATEAU
SIGNAC by the winemaker from great CHÂTEAUNEUF-du-PAPE producer
CHÂTEAU LA NERTHE, this wine is a blend of 50% GRENACHE, 30% SYRAH,
10% CARIGNAN and 10% CINSAULT. It is backward at the moment, but it
blossoms in the glass. In a year or so this will be one sensational
CDRV - $17.75

For this week’s PREMIUM POUR we offer a Port – try it with the
Truffles!:
At our last October Port tasting the single vintage COLHEITAS were
the big hit. This week we offer the KOPKE 1980 COLHEITA which is a
stunning tawny Port. It was bottled in 2007. We have 375ml bottles
available at - $50.00 (we also have the 1991 at $27.50/375ml)
TRY THIS WINE FOR $6.00/a Small Taste or $10.00/2 ounces
NB: All prices are subject to change without notice. The above
