EARL and COUNTESS LEVEL
CHÂTEAU MAINE-BONNET 2004 GRAVES SEC, BORDEAUX, FRANCE
I’m a fan of dry white Bordeaux as the wines are great for oysters.
While many of the wines carry a “Bordeaux” appellation or an Entre-
Deux-Mers” appellation, this is a more “up-market: wine from GRAVES.
A 50/50 blend of SAUVIGNON BLANC and SEMILLON, the wine offers
mineral qualities from the Sauvignon Blanc with honey and fig from
the Semillon. This is a very complex wine for its price.
Regular Price: $14.75
Member Price: $12.54
SNOWDEN 2004 CABERNET SAUVIGNON, LOST VINEYARD, NAPA VALLEY, CALIFORNIA
Until a few weeks ago I’d never heard of this producer. They are new
to the Oregon market, and I think this is good a wine for its price.
The Snowden family came to the Napa Valley in 1952 and found several
over-grown vineyards. One, in a place of remote secluded beauty,
they named “Lost Vineyard”. The wine offers lots of ripe cassis
fruit, new oak, and great balance. Wine maker Diana Snowden married
into the Seysses family of Burgundy’s Domaine Dujac.

BARON and BARONESS LEVEL
NOBILO 2006 SAUVIGNON BLANC, MARLBOROUGH, NEW ZEALAND
New Zealand has produced many great Sauvignon Blancs, but the pricing
often has been a little on the high side. NOBILO is one of the
oldest Kiwi wineries (Pauline and I visited them in January 1984),
and is now offering great value Sauvignon Blancs and Pinot Noirs.
MARLBOROUGH is thought of as the best area for SAUVIGNON BLANC and
this is a classic. Good kiwi fruit with that local touch of
gooseberry is matched with lively acidity, making a wine that is
great to sip or go with shellfish. This is stunning value.
Regular Price: $10.00
Member Price: $08.50
CHÂTEAU BOUSCASSÉ 2001 MADIRAN, FRANCE
From GASCONY in the Southwest of France, MADIRAN wines from the
grape TANNAT tend to be tough and unyielding in their youth. This
five year-old wine is just breaking out of its shell. It offers lots
of spicy black fruit with (now) well-integrated tannins. Not a
“sipping wine”, this wine would be wonderful with such meals as prime
rib or filet mignon.
Regular Price: $18.00
Member Price: $15.30
Total Member Monthly Cost: $23.80
