THIS WEEK

FRIDAY, December 28th
4:30 - 7:00pm

ZINFANDEL PÂTÉ PLATES
This week, to go with our big red wines, we offer pâté plates instead
of cheese.
Pheasant with Porcini
Venison with Sun-dried Tomatoes and Hazelnuts
The pâtés are made by Viande Meats and Sausage (City Market NW).
PÂTÉ SAMPLER PLATE $4.00

Many of you know I’m not the greatest fan of Zinfandel, so this week
I’ve relied on other people’s recommendations for our selections.
I’ve tasted all the wines, but not necessarily these particular
vintages. This week we will let the wines speak and not confuse you
with my taste descriptors.

1. RAVENSWOOD 2005 OLD VINE, LODI – from a well-known Zinfandel
producer, I am assured this is a big step-up in quality over the
bargain-priced VINTNER’S BLEND - $14.00

2. IRONSTONE VINEYARDS 2005 RESERVE OLD VINE, LODI – we sell quite a
lot of this winery’s basic Zinfandel, and having tasted this Reserve
bottling, I believe it is worth the extra cost - $17.50

3. MONTEVINA 2004 TERRA d’ORO, AMADOR COUNTY – this producer’s DEAVER
VINEYARD ZINFANDEL is a favorite of mine, and this bottling seems to
have much of the DEAVER quality at a much lower cost - $16.50

4. RIDGE VINEYARDS 2004 YORK CREEK, SPRING MOUNTAIN, NAPA VALLEY –
RIDGE is just about my favorite Zinfandel producers mainly because
most of their bottlings are blends, usually adding PETITE SIRAH and/
or CARIGNAN to the ZINFANDEL. This vintage of YORK CREEK is 87%
ZINFANDEL with the balance being PETITE SIRAH - $27.50

TRY THESE FOUR WINES FOR $10.00

For this week’s PREMIUM POUR we stay in the NAPA VALLEY:

Pauline and I visited ELYSE when we went to a wedding in 2003 (the
owners are friends of the groom) and we were impressed by most of the
wines. At that time ELYSE did not have an Oregon distributor, but
now work through Bacchus Fine Wines. Our favorite Zinfandel was the
MORISOLI, followed by the HOWELL MOUNTAIN. Unfortunately Bacchus are
out of the MORISOLI and so we offer the 2004 HOWELL MOUNTAIN. This
wine is a blend of fruit from BLACK-SEARS, BEATTY and CHAVEZ-LEEDS
vineyards, all situated at about 2000 feet elevation – $35.00

TRY THIS WINE FOR $4.00/Taste or $7.00/4 ounces

NB: All prices are subject to change without notice. The above
information is based on verbal information from distributors, and
actual wine prices will depend on the price invoiced at delivery to
Cornell Wine Company.

As usual, we will have a couple of interesting wines open – I’ve yet
