EARL and COUNTESS LEVEL

SOELLNER 2006 GRÜNER VELTLINER, WOGENRAIN VINEYARD, DONAULAND, AUSTRIA

GRÜNER VELTLINER is the signature white grape of AUSTRIA, and we have
never used one for the Club. The main reason has been that most such
wines of any quality have been $20 or above. Oregon is now seeing
several Grüner Veltliners at a great quality : value ratio. This
grape produces lovely, dry, refreshing wines. You could consider it
as similar to a dry Pinot Gris, but with touches of spice and white
pepper on the finish.

Regular Price: $16.00
Member Price: $13.60

MONTARIBALDI 2004 BARBARESCO, PALAXXINA, PIEMONTE, ITALY

MONTARIBALDI is a producer below most people’s radar screens and so
the prices are reasonable. Their 2004 PALAZZINA is a classic
bottling, showing the structure you would expect from NEBBIOLO. At
the moment it is somewhat closed on the nose, but with time opens up
to show aromas of dried roses and a touch of tar. The palate and
finish show bold fruit married to modest tannins. The wine is good
to drink now with game or a steak, but will benefit from a little
cellar time.

Regular Price: $27.50
Member Price: $23.38

Total Member Monthly Cost: $36.98

BARON and BARONESS LEVEL

PROTOS 2006 VERDEJO, RUEDA, SPAIN

RUEDA, which is just to the west of RIBERA del DUERO in SPAIN, is
home to many wonderful whites from the VERDEJO grape. The grape is
considered a “native varietal” in the region. While many wines from
this region are insipid, several offer high quality for their modest
prices. This wine is light, but has wonderful fresh fruit, and the
finish has mineral and flinty overtones. It is a wonderful aperitif,
but also a great accompaniment to shell fish and other seafood.

Regular Price: $12.75
Member Price: $10.84

JOSEPH PHELPS 2005 PASTICHE, CALIFORNIA, USA

PASTICHE started out as the winery’s version of a SOUTHERN RHÔNE
wine, using only traditional Rhône varietals. Current vintages,
while still GRENACHE-based, have CABERNET SAUVIGNON and even PINOT
NOIR added to the blend. However, it still tastes like a modern
Southern Rhone wine, and offers exceptional value from this quality
producer.

Regular Price: $15.00
Member Price: $12.75

Total Member Monthly Cost: $23.59
