SPECIAL TASTING WITH ZENAS WINES

ZENAS is a relatively new Oregon winery and on Saturday their wine
maker will be here pouring some of their wines. He has not confirmed
which, but this is the provisional list:

2005 RIESLING, MONTINORE VINEYARD

This is a classic German-style Riesling with lively acidity off-
setting the 2.9% residual sugar. It offers a lovely nose of apricot
with a citrus edge together what we Brits call "petrol". The palate
has lovely spice and mineral notes. I'm beginning to realize why in
the early days of Northwest wine making, Riesling was King! - $18.50

2005 CABERNET FRANC, DEL RIO VINEYARD

Most of you know I think the best Cabernet Franc comes out of
France's Loire Valley and that too many California or Northwest
versions just taste like Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is somewhere
between the two styles. The wine smells and tastes of Franc, but it
has much more fruit intensity than many Loire wines - $24.50

2005 CLARET, WHITE HORSE BLEND, DEL RIO VINEYARD

This is the winery's version of a wine similar to Bordeaux's "right
bank". With its blend of 60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Merlot, they
have produced a Bordeaux-like wine. It has typical rich dark fruit
of Del Rio fruit, but this is combined with with nuances of olive and
mocha, giving much more complexity than many wines made from Del Rio
fruit - $31.50

ON SATURDAY WE WILL BE OFFERING SIGNIFICANT DISCOUNTS ON THESE WINES.

NOTE: BECAUSE OF THIS SPECIAL TASTING WE WILL DELAY OUR TASTING OF
CLUB WINES.

Cheers,

Mick and Pauline
