BURGUNDY/PINOT NOIR ARRIVALS

I’d hoped to announce my allocation of EVESHAM WOOD 2004 LE PUITS SEC
PINOT NOIR had arrived – it has, but it all sold within two days!
However we have some lovely BURGUNDIES arriving.

AURÉLIEN VERDET 2004 NUITS-SAINT-GEORGES – while this wine may seem
expensive for a “village” wine, it is lovely and will be great with a
little cellar time. The owner/wine maker is 26 years old and is
looked upon as one of the rising stars of Burgundy. Michael Stephens,
a Brit who has been living in Burgundy since 1980, discovered this
wine maker. Michael’s passion is to find great small producers.
ONLY 5 CASES of this wine have so far come into the USA and I have
one of them. In stock, so grab some while you can - $45.00

DOMAINE de la VOUGERAI 2001 VOUGEOT – This Domaine is owned by the
Boisset family and brings together many great vineyards the family
has owned for years. All vineyards are biodynamically and
organically farmed. This vintage is the current release from the
Domaine, and we have two Premier Cru bottlings arriving Friday,
October 13th.

LES CRAS – this is a typical “feminine”, seductive Burgundy. While
the nose has touches of barnyard and leather to go with the black
fruit, the palate has that wondrous silky feel that is so hard to
find outside of Burgundy. The tannins and oak are well integrated
into the wine, and the finish is as sensuous as slipping between silk
sheets. You can get all this eroticism for only $80/bottle.

CLOS du PRIEURE – at the trade tasting this was generally thought of
as the best of the seven wines we tried from this Domaine. Who am I
to argue, but I’d drink the LES CRAS today. The PRIEURE has a
fabulously perfumed nose, but the palate and finish had a slightly
hard edge from the tannins that need a couple of years to soften.
However the minerals and spice in the flavors indicate this will be a
more complex wine than the Les Cras if given time - $65.00

PLEASE NOTE: These Vougerai prices are based on a futures commitment
and any further orders (if the wines are still available) will be
$92.50 and $77.50

PANTHER CREEK SPECIALS:

The local distribution has changed and the previous distributor got
his hands on some older vintages and offered them at a heavy
discount. We have the following in stock:

2001 WHITE ROSE VINEYARD
2001 SHEA VINEYARD
2001 NYSA VINEYARD

All are $20/bottle, but we offer mixed cases at $204 ($17/bottle)

Cheers,
Mick
