SAMPLER PLATE $3.00
  ZINFANDEL

Most of you know I’m not the greatest fan of Zinfandel (the high
alcohol makes them less food-friendly than most wines), hence I tend
to listen to customers and read wine magazines when we do a Zinfandel
tasting.
1. We start in LODI and IRONSTONE 2005 ZINFANDEL. This winery has
offered great value wines in the past, and this 2005 is fabulous
value. The fruit reminds me of blueberry with black raspberry on the
finish. This is coupled with a touch of oak and spice - $9.00

2. I do not like “cute critter” labels, but the quality of this wine
overcame the label. The 2004 POTRAIT OF A MUTT is a SONOMA
ZINFANDEL, and in the style of Ridge Vineyards as the wine includes
some CARIGNAN. It offers gobs of spicy black fruit with some heat on
the finish from the alcohol - $16.00

3. ROSENBLUM CELLARS is a long time producer of good ZINFANDEL, and
we offer their 2004 PASO ROBLES. This is a recent release and I have
not tasted it, but a good customer said it is better than the very
good 2003 - $19.50

4. I’ve never really considered the NAPA VALLEY as home to the
greatest ZINFANDELS but I’m learning! The NAPA CELLARS 2003 is a
customer recommendation and I liked this wine. It has lots of rich
fruit and spice, but has that elegance missing in many Zinfandels.
Great value - $17.50

TRY THESE FOUR WINES FOR $10.00
For this week’s PREMIUM POUR we offer:

From the CHILES VALLEY area of the NAPA VALLEY we will taste the
BROWN ESTATE 2004 ZINFANDEL. This is the area of our popular GREEN &
RED ZINFANDELS. However the BROWN is another customer recommendation
and I have not tasted this wine – at this price let’s hope it lives
up to the hype! - $36.00

TRY THIS WINE FOR $4.00/Taste or $7.50/4 ounces

SATURDAY, December 2nd
Noon – 5 PM
Free tasting
We will have two bargain wines open:

DOMAINE de PAJOT 2005 BLANC - Gascony is a French source of many
great value white wines, and this CÔTES de GASGOGNE bottling is as
great a value as it gets. A blend of GROS MANSENG, UGNI BLANC,
SAUVIGNON BLANC and COLOMBARD, the wine offers lovely fruit combined
with refreshing acidity - $7.50

From SPAIN we offer a 100% GARNACHA wine from the CARIÑENA region.
From producer AYLES this is a wonderful value wine. Not as
sophisticated as a typical GRENACHE from the SOUTHERN RHÔNE, it has
an earthy, rusticity unique to SPAIN - $8.50

Looking forward to seeing you all,

Cheers,
